Dr. Jan Wohlfahrt has a long standing experience concerning a great number of complex projects relating to the examination proceedings of patent applications and opposition, nullity and infringement proceedings. Examples are:
Jan Wohlfahrt studied biology at the University of Hohenheim and at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen. He wrote his Diploma thesis at the Institute for General Genetics at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen on the topic of plant genetics. He then worked on the topic of molecular allergology at the Swiss Institute for Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF) in Davos and achieved his Doctorate at the University of Zurich in the year 2004.
From 2004 to 2008 he trained in the field of Intellectual Property Law at Gleiss & Große, spending time at the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court and the District Court of Mannheim.
Jan Wohlfahrt was admitted as a German Patent Attorney in 2008 and as European Patent Attorney in 2010. He is admitted at the German Patent- and Trademark Office (DPMA, the European Patent Office (EPO), the German Federal Patent Court (BPatG) and the EUIPO. He is also admitted at the German Federal Supreme Court (BGH) in connection with nullity actions, proceedings concerning supplementary protection certificates and compulsory licenses. He is also admitted at the Bundessortenamt (Federal Bureau for Protection and National Listing of New Plant Varieties) concerning the protection of new plant varieties.
He is member of the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright law (GRUR), the Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys, the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI) and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI).
